Home Schooled Teen Publishes Exciting Adventure Novel
March 20, 2004--Lily Bea Jenkins started writing The Poison Plot at twelve years old, and completed it over four years. During the time of revision, Lily Bea found Roderic and his friends so compelling that she developed the framework for a series of dramatic adventures, not yet published. Her passion is to write thrilling literature that promotes good character.
The Poison Plot is a novel set in the medieval time period on the fictional continent of Reynolda. A sinister plan arises in the country of Calendenia as the villainous king, Ravona, plots to gain control of the region. The only hope for the nobles of Reynolda is a young stable hand from du Parries. When his parents disappear, Roderic di Venice resolves to find them, and stumbles across unexpected treachery. With his life in danger, Roderic must face a terrible family secret and foil the poison plot.
Youth that have read the book rave about the exciting plot, but what sets this book apart from other adventure stories is the underlying theme of respect for authority. Parents are responding enthusiatically! Lily Bea states her reason for bringing this principle forward, "I think authority is a key issue for teens. Life goes a lot smoother when you respect your parents, and the blessings of God follow."
